Unique and Leading Programs
York University continues its global and national progress, with the 2024 Shanghai Ranking Consultancy’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS) placing it in the top 100 worldwide in six subjects. These include aerospace engineering (26th globally, 1st in Canada), business administration, finance, geography, psychology, and sociology—all in the top five in Canada, with two tied for second.
With 200+ programs to choose from, our strength has always been truly exceptional programs. York U is home to Canada’s largest liberal arts program, the only Space Engineering program in the country, a new Global Health program and a unique cross-discipline Digital Media program. Our Centre for Research in Earth and Space Science has led the way in the development and operation of scientific instruments for three major NASA space missions over the past 30 years, and has also played a supporting role on seven other space missions to date. Our professional schools, Schulich School of Business and Osgoode Hall Law School consistently ranked among the best, and the School of Kinesiology and Health Science is ranked within the top 100 in the World in the 2023 Shanghai World ranking in the Sport Science Schools and Departments.
